Solar lamps brightened the coastal villager lives in Bangladesh
Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS), in partnership with the Korea Green Foundation (KGF), distributed 2,800 solar lamps among vulnerable households in coastal areas of Bangladesh. This initiative aimed to improve access to clean and renewable energy for communities with limited or unreliable electricity services.
The solar lamps have significantly enhanced the quality of life of coastal villagers by providing safe and sustainable lighting for households, students, and small businesses. Children can now study after sunset, while families can carry out daily activities without depending on costly and environmentally harmful kerosene lamps.
In addition to reducing energy expenses, the project contributes to environmental protection by promoting the use of renewable energy and lowering carbon emissions. The initiative also strengthens community resilience to climate change and natural disasters, which frequently affect Bangladesh’s coastal regions.
Through this effort, BEDS and KGF have demonstrated their commitment to improving livelihoods, promoting sustainable development, and supporting environmentally friendly solutions for vulnerable communities across coastal Bangladesh.
