Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) is a leading community-based non-profit organization dedicated to solving complex environmental and social challenges in Bangladesh. Recognized globally, BEDS proudly received the prestigious Equator Prize in 2024 and the National Environment Award of Bangladesh in 2022, along with several other national and international honors. Founded with a vision to promote harmony between people and nature, BEDS works hand in hand with local communities—respecting indigenous knowledge, culture, and ecological wisdom—to restore ecosystems and strengthen resilience.

What We Do

BEDS have been working to identify and solve complex environmental and social problems in Bangladesh such as the adverse impacts of global warming, unsustainable use of natural resources, drinking water crisis, Sundarbans mangrove ecosystem and biodiversity destruction, increasing uses of dirty energy, gender inequity and human rights violation etc. with local people without harming the ecosystem though action research, communication education, participation and awareness raising (CEPA) programs and hardware activities. We are working for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
